Song: Lullaby

From: Harriet Tubman (the opera)
Composer: Leo Edwards

Pianist: Nathaniel Eck

Genre: 21st century American Opera

Harriet Tubman journeyed through the night with faith as her compass, leading her people toward freedom, not just a freedom of the body, but a rest for the soul. This lullaby is more than a cradle song; it is a whispered promise of home. As the Lord declared, ‘I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery’ (Exodus 20:2). In her song, we hear the longing for a place where burdens are laid down, where morning breaks, and where the weary finally find rest.
